Prof. Duško Bjelica will be at AESA Conference

We are delighted to announce the distinguished presence of Professor Duško Bjelica at the AESA Sport Science Conference.

Professor Duško Bjelica, PhD, currently serving as the Chairman of the University of Montenegro, is set to grace our conference with his esteemed presence.

Born on October 7, 1963, in Podgorica, Professor Bjelica's educational journey began and thrived in the field of physical education. He completed his elementary and high school education in this discipline, setting the stage for a remarkable career.

Notably, Professor Bjelica holds the esteemed position of President of the Council for Sports of the Government of Montenegro, reflecting his significant contributions to the sports community.

His academic journey includes a wide array of accomplishments. He graduated from the Teaching Faculty, specializing in Physical Education, at the University of Montenegro, "Veljko Vlahovic." Subsequently, he obtained degrees in Physical Education and Senior Football Coaching from the Faculty of Physical Education at the University of Novi Sad. Furthering his academic pursuits, he achieved a Master's Degree at the Faculty of Physical Education, University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje. His quest for knowledge culminated in a PhD in the field of physical education, which he earned at the Faculty of Physical Education, University of Belgrade, in 2003.

Since 2005, Professor Bjelica has been a dedicated member of the University of Montenegro, Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić. His roles have included teaching assistant and head of various study programs, such as Physical Culture, Sports Coaches, and Sports Journalists. Recognized for his expertise, he was appointed as an assistant professor in 2005 and an associate professor in 2010 by the Senate. In January 2015, he attained the esteemed rank of full professor. His influence extends beyond Montenegro, as he has delivered lectures at prestigious institutions like the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education at the University of Belgrade, Mostar, Tuzla, and Sarajevo.

Professor Bjelica's passion for sports extends beyond academics; he has been an active footballer and football coach. Additionally, he has been involved with the Association of Sports Journalists of Montenegro and the sports journalists section in Podgorica. He serves as the editor of the international journals Montenegrin Journal of Sports Science and Medicine, indexed in 53 international databases, and Sport Mont, indexed in 12 international databases. He is also a co-founder of the international Open Fun Football Schools in Montenegro, with headquarters in Denmark (Copenhagen).

His dedication and contributions to sports have been recognized with various awards and honors, including the Sports Committee Juan Antonio Samaranch Award in Barcelona in 2007. He has been acknowledged as the best sports worker in Podgorica and the top pedagogue of Physical Education in Nikšić. His international influence is evident through the recognition he has received from the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education in Sarajevo and Novi Sad for his substantial scientific contributions.

Professor Bjelica's international engagements have included active participation in numerous scientific congresses and conferences, where he has delivered notable and plenary presentations that have been published. He holds the prestigious position of President of the Montenegrin Sports Academy in Podgorica, a professional and scientific sports organization with over 1200 members.

Professor Bjelica's scholarly contributions are substantial, with over 300 papers published in international journals and 59 books encompassing international, scientific, and professional monographs and textbooks.
